Killer Gator
The Killer Gator is native to the swamps to the south of Dundee. Adult gators can grow to a length of over 14 feet with one specimen reaching 19. They can weigh over 800 pounds and live up to fifty years.
Their general coloration is black but light markings may persist into adulthood. Many gators bear scars from territory or other battles. The roaring bellow of a killer gator can be heard at a distance. Females have been known to grunt while calling to their young. Female gators are protective of their young for up to one year after they hatch. Baby gators make a high pitched sound but rarely anything else.
Although ponderous in appearance, Killer Gators are capable of explosive action and can quickly lunge and attack their prey. The gator often kills larger prey by grabbing it and dragging it in the water to drown. The Killer Gator’s jaws are well muscled, and a gator’s grip is difficult to disengage. The muscles to open the jaws are relatively undeveloped, and a strong man can easily hold its mouth shut.
When properly skinned, a gator hide can fetch some coin from traders, but many members of Adventurous find the weight/worth ratio not worth the trouble of bringing the hide back.
Killer Gator meat can be spiced and dried into a light, highly nutritious jerky. The most prized meat comes from the tail, and darker meat come from the body and shoulder.
Wulf Darkholme: “The gators weren't so bad. Haven't run into many.”
Kaballoi: “Remember them and their eyes glowin en the torch light. Tough, scaly, growlin beasts waitin ta drag ya down enta the mud and muck ifin ya were not careful. Made nice boots though if ya could get their skins.”
